AXA Achievement Scholarship

The AXA Achievement Scholarship, now known as the Equitable Excellence Scholarship, is a scholarship program that provides financial assistance to high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. The program is administered by Scholarship America and is funded by the Equitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Equitable.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Equitable Excellence Scholarship, you must be:

  • A U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • A graduating high school senior
  • Planning to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Selection criteria

Scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria:

  • Academic achievement (40%)
  • Leadership (30%)
  • Community service (20%)
  • Personal statement (10%)

Award amounts

The Equitable Excellence Scholarship awards a total of $1 million in scholarships each year. There are two types of scholarships:

  • National Scholarships: 100 students are awarded $5,000 scholarships that are renewable for up to four years, for a total of $20,000 per recipient.
  • One-Time Scholarships: 100 students are awarded $2,500 scholarships that can be used for immediate college expenses such as tuition, books, or room and board.

The application for the Equitable Excellence Scholarship is available online at the Scholarship America website. The deadline to apply is typically in December.
