The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that candidates taking the direct entry examination will now undergo cognitive and verbal reasoning tests. The disclosure was made by the Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during a virtual meeting with commissioners of education from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Oloyede clarified that the purpose of the test is to evaluate candidates academic potential, career suitability, and mental or physical capacity. Unlike traditional subjects like Mathematics, Chemistry, Government, or Physics, this intelligent test will focus on measuring candidates current cognitive skills.

The registrar further detailed that the test will encompass verbal, abstract, mechanical, and numerical reasoning, as well as data checking and work sampling. He emphasized that all direct entry candidates must provide certain details during registration, including the matriculation number of their previous school, subject of qualification, institution attended, year of graduation, and admission letter when necessary.
