Eligibility for applying for McGill Universitys Canada Scholarship

All applicants, regardless of their country of origin or educational background, must fulfill the following minimum academic requirements:

1. Possession of a Bachelors degree, or an equivalent qualification recognized by McGill University, in a field closely related to the chosen subject for graduate studies.

2. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, admission to the Masters program at McGill necessitates the completion of a four-year undergraduate degree in a related field at an accredited institution. Admission to a doctoral (PhD) program generally mandates the completion of a Masters degree in a related field from a recognized institution.

3. Exceptional candidates with an undergraduate (Bachelors) degree, augmented by extensive research experience, may be considered for admission to a doctoral (PhD) program without the prerequisite of completing a Masters degree first. 4. A minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (cGPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.2 out of 4.0 in the final two years of full-time studies, is required. Some departments may stipulate a higher CGPA for admission, and specific program requirements should be consulted for further information.

5. Educational credentials will be evaluated for equivalence with a McGill University degree. Additional information can be found on the Degree Equivalency page.

6. Proficiency in English is essential as the primary language of instruction at McGill is English. While arrangements may be made to write papers, examinations, or theses in French, this is subject to individual course objectives.
