The National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) convention which held on Thursday  3rd December 2020, turned violent as there were sporadic gunshots in the venue.

The NANS Association converged at Old Parade ground, Area 10, Garki, Abuja to elect new Executive members, but trouble reportedly started when one of the zonal coordinators of the NANS from a different faction, stormed the convention venue with armed men to stop the accreditation process. The armed suspected cultists engaged the men of the Department of State Security (DSS) in a gun battle, and some of the DSS had to take to their heels and retreated as they were outnumbered.

Over 20 persons were said to have been injured, with one in a critical condition taken to the nearest hospital.
